Sam is an Early Stage Researcher for the iPlacenta consortium, with Dr. Fergus McCarthy and Dr. Cathal McCarthy.

Sam’s PhD research is focused on understanding the pathophysiology of premature ageing of the placenta in adverse pregnancy outcomes such as Pre-eclampsia and Intrauterine growth restrictions, in order to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets. For her project, she will be recruiting patients with Term and Pre-Term Preeclampsia, and Intrauterine Growth restriction for maternal blood, urine, placenta and umbilical cord blood.
