Kirsten Dowling
Research Assistant

Kirsten specializes in analytical method development and validation of targeted metabolites in both biological and food matrices. Through her work at the Cork Centre for Vitamin D and Nutrition Research, she developed several methods for multiple vitamin D metabolites in serum and food samples using ultra performance liquid chromatography/triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry.

Research Interests: Kirsten specializes in analytical method development and validation of targeted metabolites in both biological and food matrices. Through her work at the Cork Centre for Vitamin D and Nutrition Research, she developed several methods for multiple vitamin D metabolites in serum and food samples using ultra performance liquid chromatography/triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry.  Other proficiencies include gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, statistical analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and small molecule synthesis. She is in the final stages of her PhD in Nutritional Sciences, which focuses on the significance of minor vitamin D metabolites to overall vitamin D status and health.
