Clinical Research Fellow

Dr Andreea Pavel is a clinical research fellow and part of the neonatal research team within the Department of Paediatric and Child Health in the University College Cork. Her main research focus is on neonatal neurology with a special interest in neonatal encephalopathy and electroencephalography monitoring.

Since the beginning of her medical training, Andreea's interest in research has grown. 

Career Profile:

2017 - present: PhD, NEPTuNE Program, HRB Neonatal Encephalopathy PhD Training Network. 

2016 – present: Clinical Research Fellow, Department of Paediatrics and Child Health in the University College Cork

2013 – 2016: Neonatal and Paediatric Registrar, at Cork University Maternity Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, respectively.

2011 – 2013: Neonatal and Paediatric SHO at The Rotunda Hospital and Wexford General Hospital, respectively.

Professional Activities/Achievements:

  • In 2006, Andreea graduated from “Ovidius” Medical University, Romania.
  • She completed her 5-year postgraduate training in Paediatrics at Paediatric Clinical Hospital Sibiu, Romania.
  • During her training she did several presentations at national and international meetings.
  • Guided by outstanding mentors, from both Romania and Ireland, she discovered a special interest in neonatology. Her intention is to focus in this area.
