The NEUROPROBE study will develop an innovative method of continuously analysing changes in preterm EEG, NIRS and blood pressure data.

What is NEUROPROBE?

The NEUROPROBE study will develop cot-side devices which continuously assess brain health in preterm infants.

These innovative devices will analyse factors like brain electrical activity, oxygen levels and blood pressure. This data will be interpreted by algorithms which INFANT researchers have designed, to provide clinicians with an index of brain health for preterm infants. The ultimate goal is to achieve better standards of care in managing preterm babies in neonatal intensive care units worldwide.

How does NEUROPROBE work?

INFANT researchers have analysed existing data from our studies of preterm babies, which has shown the interaction between EEG brain activity and blood pressure.

Working from this long-term recorded data, INFANT has found a new way of looking at the relationship between EEG and blood pressure. Our researchers are now defining the relationship between these physiological signals.
