Prof. Geraldine Boylan – Director

Director of INFANT

Professor Geraldine Boylan is Director of the INFANT Research Centre and Professor of Neonatal Physiology at University College Cork (UCC). A founding Director of INFANT, she is a recognised expert in neonatal neurophysiology and leads the Neonatal Brain Research Group, an internationally recognised multidisciplinary team focused on neurological monitoring in newborn infants, particularly seizure detection and the early diagnosis of brain injury. Her research has championed the use of signal processing and artificial intelligence to identify infants at risk of brain injury, helping translate research innovations into tools that benefit newborns at the bedside. Professor Boylan was elected a Member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2022 and is also a member of UCC’s Governing Authority.
