Contact Details:
Shuwen Yu is a fourth-year PhD candidate at the INFANT Research Centre, University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. He graduated top of his class with a BSc (Hons) in Automation from the North China Institute of Aerospace Engineering in 2020. The programme grounded him in control theory, electrical/electronic systems, and signal processing.
In 2021, he completed an MEngSc (with distinction) in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, UCC. His master’s research produced a vision-based micromanipulator control-system simulation, extending his expertise in advanced control and computer vision.
Supported by an Irish Research Council scholarship, Shuwen’s doctoral work analyses multicentre European clinical-trial datasets to build deep-learning algorithms for early detection of neonatal brain injury. Leveraging multimodal signals—including EEG and heart-rate variability—he aims to deliver clinically deployable tools that improve outcomes for vulnerable newborns.
